We Welcome all Families to the Soquel Union Elementary School District!

Transitional Kinder Program

In 2010 the state approved a new educational program called Transitional Kindergarten (TK). The purpose of this program is to allow students one extra year in preparation for a standard kindergarten curriculum. We have created an exceptional transitional kindergarten program that prepares all students for their academic and classroom structure for traditional kindergarten. Children who turn five between September 2 and December 2 are eligible for the transitional kindergarten program. If you have any concerns regarding your child's readiness for a regular academic kinder program please contact Linda Jacobs at (831) 464-5639 to learn more about TK.

Enrolling at your Home School

Registration will open for the 2021-22 school year on February 1, 2021. Your child must turn five on or before September 1, 2021, to be eligible for kindergarten. To register your child online please contact your homeschool during the school year and the District Office during the summer. If you do not know what your homeschool is, or if you have any questions at all, please call the District Office at (831) 464-5630.

Intradistrict Transfers

Under certain circumstances, we offer the opportunity for students to attend another school in our district other than their home school. Intradistrict Transfers are governed by our district’s Board Policy 5116.1. You must first register at your home school and then apply for an Intradistrict Transfer. Requests will only be approved based on space availability at the school requested in our district. Priority will be granted to requests made specifically for the Santa Cruz Gardens Elementary Science and Gardening Education (SAGE) Program. Intradistrict Transfer Applications for the 2021-22 school year will be accepted between February 1 to April 15, 2021.

Interdistrict Transfers Into the District

Students from another district wishing to attend a school in the Soquel Union Elementary School District must complete an Interdistrict Transfer Request from their district of residence. These requests will be approved based on space available at the school requested in our district. We will begin accepting Interdistrict Transfers into the District for the 2021-22 school year on February 1, 2021.

Interdistrict Transfers Out of the District

Students may request a transfer out of the district to a school in another school district. In accordance with Board Policy 5117, the Superintendent or designee may limit the number of student transfers out of the district to a school district of choice based on the percentages of average daily attendance specified in Education Code 48037.

The InterDistrict Transfer Forms are now fillable on the computer. Please complete ALL the sections that apply to you in detail. Print so you may sign the form then scan and email back to Linda Jacobs at the District Office. If you are unable to scan and email you may return the completed form to the District Office. A letter will be mailed to you once the process has been completed. Thank you.

For all general questions regarding transfers please contact Linda Jacobs at ljacobs@suesd.org.
